The Keys

A private members’ dinner club, reviving the name of a mid-century supper club.

The Keys Restaurant, New York

The Keys mark, redrawn by Krafft from an original matchbook.

The idea

The Keys was a mid-century American supper club: red damask menus with a ring of keys on the cover, a maître d’ at the door, Caesar salad made at the table and dessert set alight in front of you. Restaurants like it taught a generation what an evening out could be.

We are bringing the name back as a private dinner club. Not a restaurant with a door on the street, but a series of evenings for a short list of members and their guests.

The evening

One long table. A menu that honours the original: things carved, dressed and finished in front of you. Good wine, and coffee after. Nobody looks at a phone because there is no reason to.

One long table, a short list, and an evening worth keeping.

How it works

  • The markRedrawn by Krafft from an original matchbook: script The, block KEYS, two keys on a ring.
  • The tableDinners for a small number of members and guests, hosted in remarkable rooms.
  • The serviceTableside, the old way: carved, dressed and flamed at the table.
  • The recordEach evening photographed and written up by Krafft Studios.

Why Krafft

Everything Krafft does is about the stories behind things and the people who make them. A dinner table is where those stories get told. Krafft Studios documents each evening, and the guest list becomes the start of a community.
